Rosemary Cottage by Colleen Coble

Colleen Coble has Book 2 of her Hope Beach Series available now for readers.  Rosemary Cottage takes place near the Outer Banks, NC and centers around Amy Lange a mid-wife who has come back to Hope Beach to investigate her brother's death.  Curtis Ireland is an officer with the Coast Guard who has just lost his sister.  He has been left to raise his niece Raine.  When Curtis and Amy learn that the two deaths are possibly connected, they begin to piece the clues together to find out the truth.  Hope Beach used to be a safe place for Amy, but now it seems like everyone has a secret.  Amy has never had to lock her doors, but when a car bomb is found on Curtis's car and evidence shows that someone has been in her home, she doesn't know who to trust.  And could Raine really be her niece? Amy thought she knew her brother well, but she is discovering even her brother had secrets.
Although I had read other books by Colleen Coble, including Book 1 in this series, I didn't really care for this one.  The writing seemed choppy and the story line didn't really flow for me.  I didn't think it had enough of a Christian background to it either.  I liked the mid-wife parts, but there were almost too many characters that it was hard for me to keep them straight as to who was who, especially at the beginning.  Some of the characters from Book 1 of the series were in this story which was okay, but it really wasn't a story I would ever read again.  Thomas Nelson publishers were kind enough to send me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
